And I’m not talking about cheating and what not, cus I’m not about to play tit for tat with a nigga over betrayal. But do you, work on your own projects regardless what he think, dress how you want, go with your friends where you want etc. just do you mane. Sometimes these dudes think they can control you and your light. Been there, done that and never again. I once dated a guy that had the nerve to tell me that he was uncomfortable with me taking acting classes because I might have to kiss another man during acting classes...meanwhile, he’s a barber that was arching women eyebrows and I was supposed to be secure and okay with that. I had another one tell me that he preferred me not wearing weave or makeup. His next chick after me was a natural chick with no makeup so who knows...he may have just been making excuses as to why he was cheating on me with her but who knows. Moral of the story: DO YOU! (SWIPE TO READ) At 32 years old, I am really just becoming comfortable with the thought of having a child or children. I’ve always felt that not only should you be financially prepared, but that you should also be prepared mentally as much as you possibly can. I wanted to grow first and not let a child grow me up because it’s not their responsibility to change or heal me. I saw the pain my mama went through while trying to make it work with my daddy AND love my sisters and I at the same time. I knew I didn’t want that because I want better for my future child than what I had. I had the opportunity to speak at a local high school during their “Muffins with Mom” event. Since I don’t have any kids of my own, I talked about how my relationship with my own mother has evolved so much over the last 32 years of my life, how that mother daughter relationship has shaped me and how it has completed my search to figuring out WHO I am exactly.
